Daylight Savings time and SnapServer functionality

    In August of 2005 the United States Congress passed the Energy Policy Act, which changes both the start and end dates of daylight savings time DST When this law goes into effect in 2007, DST will start three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March) and will end one week later (2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November) than what had historically occurred.

    DST 2007 will have the following effects on GuardianOS powered servers

    -Scheduling Backups with Netvault

    - Scheduling Replication with EDR

    - Scheduling

    - Scheduling Virus Scans with CA Anti-Virus

    - File date/time stamps

    We have a service pack (SP3) available for GuardianOS powered servers running GuardianOS 4.2.054 or higher which will update your server to reflect this change.


    GuardianOS 4.2.054 SP3 can be downloaded

    Please note that you must have GuardianOS 4.2.054 or higher in order to apply the service pack. If you are not at this revision you will need to first upgrade your server. Please contact technical support for assistance with upgrading.

    This could also potentially affect 3rd party backup mechanisms that rely on file time. SnapOS servers attached to a domain will not be affected as they will sync to your network time. For SnapOS servers in a workgroup you can configure the server to update via a public NTP server.
