Will SnapServers decrease network performance?
- No. In most cases, adding a SnapServer will increase overall network performance. Moving frequently accessed files to a SnapServer will reduce the load on a primary file server, improving its performance. Similarly, access to files on the SnapServer is not affected by heavy workload on a primary file server. If the network is segmented, performance improvements can also be gained by locating a SnapServer on the same segment with its primary users, and isolating traffic to that segment.
