Unable to communicate with the server over the network while it is in recovery mode.

Version 1

Unable to communicate with the server over the network while it is in recovery mode.

    ---Solution---

If the server was configured with a static IP address and has booted into recovery mode, the gateway (if previously assigned) is not setup. The system must be accessed from the same subnet while in recovery mode.

Note this behavior does not pertain to the server when it is configured for DHCP. Keep in mind the subnet the server is on would require a DHCP server to properly assign TCP/IP settings in order to be accessed across subnets.

If you have access to a system on the same IP subnet as the SNAP server, use this system to access the SNAP Server web interface.

You can connect a serial null modem cable to the serial port on the SNAPServer and manually enter the IP address of a default gateway if necessary.

    HyperTerminal Connection details.

    -- 115200 bits/second

    -- 8 data bits<br>No Parity

    -- 1 Stop bit

    -- No flow control.

Once a connection is established use the command below to manually add a Default Gateway address to the unit.

    route add default gw <IP-Address-of-the-gateway>

Next reboot the unit using the command reboot -f or press the power button on the unit once.
