Backup hangs using Veritas Backup Exec 9.1 and 10.0

    When attempting Veritas 9.1 or 10.0 agent backup, the backup hangs using the Guardian OS 3.1 and above.  The job cannot be cancelled. The BE Server needs to be restarted to get past this issue.<br><br>

    Error that will be displayed in Veritas:<br><br>

    "A timeout occurred waiting for data from the agent during operation shutdown" or "The network connection to the Backup Exec Remote Agent has been lost. Check for network errors" (a00084f8 HEX or e00084f8 HEX) is reported during a backup operation.<br><br>

    Either disable NDMP on the Guardian SnapServer, or change the port from port 10000 to another free port.<br><br>Cause: The Guardian SnapServer has NDMP enabled on port 10000, which conflicts with the Unix Agent.  Backup Exec communicates with its agents via NDMP on port 10000.<br><br>How to change the port that Network Data Management Protocol uses in Backup Exec for Windows Servers<br><br>Document ID: 255498<br>
