How to Clear the Event Log on a FCO1 Card

    Problem:
    I have an FCO 1 card and when I review the Event log I find data from many months ago. How can I clear the FCO 1 log and start over.

    Solution:
    WARNING THIS PROCEDURE WILL REQUIRE A REBOOT OF THE FCO1 CARD. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE WHILE ACTIVELY WRITING DATA TO ATTACHED DEVICES.


    STEP 1. Log into the FCO card via a serial port connection.

    STEP 2. Select Shutdown/Restart

    STEP 3. Press Yes, Then press Enter to reboot

    STEP 4. The FCO card will shutdown and then start Rebooting

    STEP 5. After a few seconds you will see a message:

    ROUTER CPU



    STEP 6. When you see the mesaage above, press down on the space bar until you enter the loader menu.

    It will appear like this.


    Flash Utility

    Local Memory Test Passed.
    Configuration OK.

    ROUTER CPU
    Select Protocol
    1. FAST BINARY
    2. KERMIT
    3. XMODEM

    4. Run diagnostics
    5. Run controller

    6. Utility Menu
    X. Reboot

    STEP 7. Select # 6 Utility Menu

    UTILITY MENU
    1. Clear Event Logs
    2. Clear Configuration
    X. Reboot
    Q. Quit Utility Menu (back to loader menu)
    ?. Show this Menu

    STEP 8. Press #1 Clear Event Logs and confirm


    STEP 9. When it is done. Press X to Reboot

    NOTE: Only allow Debug running while you are troubleshooting as it will effect performance.
