LTO-4 tape drives support hardware encryption. There are no settings on the NEO or the ARCvault LCD or WEBTLC/RMU to enable encryption. Hardware encryption must be enabled on the BUS by the backup software.
Overland Storage tape products only support encryption invoked by the host interface (SCSI, FC, or SAS).
Many backup software packages support LTO-4 hardware encryption or even proprietary software encryption. Customers wanting to use encryption should check with their backup software manufacturer for available features.
Hardware encryption is only available for LTO-4 and above Tape drives in the LTO family of drives.
